S W Irish Sea Polychaetes

Staff: Andrew Mackie

This work will complete the identification and analysis of marine bristleworm (polychaete) samples from Irish Sea grab and trawl samples taken in 1997 and 1998. The results will be added to and analysed with other identified faunal groups (molluscs, arthropods and echinoderms). The results will be incorporated into a database of findings from other Museum work around the coast of Wales (e.g., SE Irish Sea, Welsh Sandbanks, Outer Bristol Channel). The outcome of the project will be the production of a BIOMÔR Report on the area, and (together with Ivor Rees, University of Wales Bangor – retired) an integrated map-based BIOMÔR Report. The latter will bring together information on invertebrate species distributions in the seabed sediments off the Welsh coast.
