What are the mystery bulbs?
Each school was given a few mystery bulbs to plant this year.
They come in lots of different colours. My 1st one was bright red - see my picture.
Pupils from Peter Lea Primary School reported: "Our Mystery bulbs are now now fully open. They are beautiful red tulips - not sure what type - flowers quite unusual - can you help?"
Answer: These tulips are of the Kaufmania variety. They are very popular for small containers because they are much shorter than normal tulips. They grow to about 15cms tall. Thay also flower early in the year compared to other tulips.
