Prince of Wales Medal for Philanthropy awarded to Mathew Prichard

Tribute from Amgueddfa Cymru

“Mathew Prichard has been a great supporter of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales both as a Trustee and major donor. He joined the Museum Council in 1977 and remained a member until he was appointed Vice President of the Board of Trustees in 1992 and subsequently President from 1997 to 2002.

“Mathew’s continuous support has allowed us to be ambitious in our plans for exhibitions and galleries and on many occasions leverage support from other sources. The fact that one individual can dedicate so much time and focus to our organization, sustained over a 35 year period, and has the foresight and belief in our work to help us create a legacy for the future is truly exceptional.

“Mathew’s support for Amgueddfa Cymru has been fuelled by his passion for both art and Wales. His achievements and enormous influence over Welsh culture for so many years deserve the highest recognition.”
