A week of Lunchtime Conversations at this year’s Hay Festival of Literature and Arts will welcome the public to join in a series of lively informed debates. Hanes Cymru-History Wales, a partnership of Wales’s leading heritage organisations, will provide a platform for expert speakers from the heritage, arts and university sectors to discuss, question and celebrate history in modern Wales. Topics will include cultural tourism, economic regeneration and science teaching in Wales.
From 5 May 2011 to 27 July 2011, the 1536 ‘Act of Union’ between England and Wales will be on display at St Fagans: National History Museum, Cardiff.

Amgueddfa Cymru is heavily involved in DNA barcoding the Welsh flora. The aim of the project is to create DNA barcodes (unique sequences of DNA bases – like fingerprints) for all 1,143 flowering plants in the Welsh flora.
The name Derek Mathias Tudor Williams will not be familiar to everybody, but it is this Welshman who has been the greatest benefactor to Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales since Gwendoline and Margaret Davies. A new exhibition to celebrate Derek Williams’ contribution to art in Wales, Lifetime to Legacy: The Derek Williams Trust Collection will go on show at National Museum Cardiff from Friday 25 March 2011.
