Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales

Our Plans

Amgueddfa Cymru’s long term commitments are outlined in our Vision statement – ‘a world-class museum of learning’, published in 2005 which describes the direction of our work and aspirations for the future development of the Museum over a decade and beyond.

The Vision Map, developed for the first time during 2009/10, is Amgueddfa Cymru’s new medium term planning tool. Developed collectively by Trustees, Directors and Managers, using a strategy mapping approach, the Vision Map outlines a three year work programme for Amgueddfa Cymru. This is presented through 10 core objectives across 4 perspectives: The People of Wales; Presenting Wales; Improving Performance and Financial Success. By clicking on each of the objectives, it is possible to see the strategic initiatives that will be delivered over the next three years together with the Welsh Assembly Government Strategies that we are helping to deliver and the evidence that we will use to assess how successful we have been. The Vision Map will be updated each Autumn for the forthcoming three years.

Each April, we publish our Operational Plan which outlines our detailed plans for the financial year ahead and is our response to the Remit Letter issued by the Minister for Heritage.

If you have any questions about the Museum’s plans or planning process, please contact Dr Judith A Ingram, Head of Policy & Planning
