Solitary hawkweed (Hieracium solum), a highly threatened species known from only two sites in Kintyre.

Hieracium is a large critical genus of over 400 species in Britain. Both the number of species and their similarity to each other means identification is often very difficult. Amongst the rarest are the 21 UK Biodiversity Action plan species in Hieracium section Alpestria. In this monograph, being co-authored with the Shetland expert W. Scott, the information known about them is drawn together with illustrations and guidance on identification.

The monograph is due for completion about Christmas 2010.
