Apple Regional Training Centre
The Regional Training Centre programme helps teachers bring learning to life with digital technology. Whether you are looking at using Mac for the first time or are a Mac user who wants to explore specific software in more detail there is a workshop or course to suit your requirements.
Considering a Mac?
Many teachers are becoming aware of how easily a Mac computer fits into the classroom. The ilife applications suite seamlessly integrates the creation and manipulation of photos movies sound files and podcasts and links well with existing windows platform computers. Because this is a big investment it helps to have hands on experience and see if the software suits your school and learning objectives. Our free courses and workshops are ideal for this evaluation. There are some free workshops and courses that introduce the iLife suite of applications and workshops on specific topics to enhance creativity in the classroom. These include digital storytelling, iMovie, Garageband and Podcasting. As well as being a great introduction to using these simple but powerful applications, the courses provide a strong base for techniques and curriculum ideas to bring creativity with digital media into the curriculum. There are also more general courses on using a Mac, using Microsoft office on a Mac and the iWork applications keynote and pages. If you want to practice your skills at photo editing in more depth there is a course covering Photoshop Elements.
During the summer holidays there will be a few workshops that gave hands on experience in creating digital movies and podcasts. So if you find it difficult to take time out from school come and have fun with the latest technology at one of our exciting museum web sites in a relaxed and informal setting.
There are free courses available as inset days at your school for up to nine teachers or teaching assistants. We can use your computer or bring Macbook laptops and video / audio equipment.
