The Gorsedd of the Bards today

Bwrdd yr Orsedd (the Gorsedd Board) manages the Gorsedd today on behalf of its members. The members of the Board are the following officers: Archdruid, Deputy Archdruid, Former Archdruids, Recorder, Herald Bard, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Legal Officer, Grand Sword Bearer, Examinations' Organizer, Music Organizer, Mistress of the Robes, Gorsedd Architect, Celtic Relations Officer and twelve other elected members.
Today every member of the Gorsedd (except the royal family) must be able to speak Welsh.
Every member of the Gorsedd has to choose a suitable bardic name.
The membership has increased substantially over the years:
1903 - 250 members;
1948 - 626;
1974 - 1,000;
2004 - c. 1,750.
