I would like to include this image in a book I am preparing for publication about Thomas Ellis Owen, the 19th century Portsmouth architect. Please could I have your permission to do so? I am paying for 200 copies of the book to be printed off and feel Parry's image would be a welcome addition because he came to Southsea when his health was poor in the 1850s and took part in musical soirees at Thomas Owen's house.

Dear Janet - Unfortunately we have not been able to identify the music in the score which Parry is holding in this painting. The picture is very small and while the brushwork is clear enough to pick out some of the rhythm it is difficult to identify the notes of a specific melody. Although the music is almost certainly that of a song, Parry performed pieces by a wide variety of composers, so there could be many possibilities.

Dear Sir or Madam
Is it possible please to find out whether the musical score which Parry holds is known? I can't make it out. Beautiful portrait.
