Big Pit National Coal Museum

Underground tours

Underground tours may be suspended for part of the day during busy periods in order to clear any queues which may have built up. Please call during holiday periods to check availability.

On Monday 28 April the Museum will be open from 11am. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Through My Eyes: The Miners' Strike 1984/85

    See this remarkable exhibition of photographs taken during the Miners’ Strike of 1984/85. NUM member Mike Thompson, who worked in Fernhill Colliery and later both Nantgarw and Cwm Coke Works, travelled around England and Wales taking photographs during the strike. This exhibition gives a personal and powerful view from the NUM side of the picket lines.
