Car Park

To remain in-line with the on-street parking charges in the city centre, from Tuesday 1 December, the daily parking rate in the museum’s visitor car park will be increasing from £5 to £6.50.

Open Tuesday–Sunday, 10am–5pm
Galleries close at 4:45pm. Open Most Bank Holiday Mondays.

Closed: 24-28 December 2015 and 1 January 2016

A Visitor Car Park, including dedicated spaces for disabled visitors, is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Purchase an exit token from the Museum Shop - £6.50. Parking is free to disabled badge holders. Please take your blue badge to the Museum shop when purchasing your token. On-road disabled parking bays also available at the front of Museum on Gorsedd Gardens Road.


Photography is allowed in the galleries for personal, non-commercial, purposes only.

  • The use of flash is not permitted at any time.
  • The use of tripods and selfie sticks is not permitted at any time.
  • Photography in loan exhibitions is not permitted at any time.
  • Photography of human remains is not permitted at any time.
