Workshops and Sessions - Learning: National Museum Cardiff

All our Natural History galleries are now open including new galleries looking at the research work happening behind the scenes here at the Museum, and life in the sea.

We offer a rich and varied science programme of activity relating to many areas of the curriculum. The following sessions are currently available:

Primary Workshops

Dinosaur Detectives (KS2)

Pupils become detectives as they build up a picture of life as a dinosaur. Come face to face with real dinosaurs, build your own, find out what they ate, and handle some real dinosaur bones.

Life in the Sea (Foundation phase and KS2)

Take a trip underwater to discover the amazing animals; from the Humpback Whale and the leatherback turtle to the strange worms living on the seabed, and explore how they are adapted to their habitat.

Hooter the Owl (Foundation phase)

Meet Hooter the Owl in the woodland and discover more about the life of an owl.

Skulls, teeth and bones (KS2)

Learn how to be a nature detective; reveal clues about an animal's life just from its skeleton.

Discover what biodiversity is and why it is important to us.

Secondary Workshops

Behind the Scenes Guided Tours (KS3 & 4 Science)

Take a look at the work of the museum scientists in the Natural History department with a special behind the scenes tour.

Selected dates throughout the year. Phone for availability.
