How do I save water in the home?

Every little helps!

Shower
Take a shower instead of a bath.
Brush teeth

Turn off the taps while you brush your teeth. It saves ten big bottles of water a day!

Count how many pupils in your class leave the tap running whilst brushing their teeth, then calculate how many litres of water is wasted each day, each week and each year.

Kettle
Only fill your kettle with the amount of water you need to boil.
Washing machine
Never half fill your washing machine — wait until you have enough dirty clothes for a full wash.
Plant
Water your plants during the evening — not during the day.Throughout the day water is lost through evaporation.
Keep a cool bottle of water in your fridge instead of running the taps until the water is cold.
Drink

Remember to stop and think before you pour down the sink! Your sink is not a rubbish bin!Everything you and your family pour down the bathroom or kitchen sink ends up in the sea.Whales, dolphins, fish and many other amazing sea creatures have to live there - so don't use your sink like a liquid rubbish bin!

Reduce the amount of cleaning fluids, bleach and soaps you pour away to the sea.
