Can snails help us record climate change?
Our climate is changing. Scientists agree that our world is getting hotter. It will warm by 1.4 - 5.8C within the next 90 years!

Snails can help us record changes in our climate because they are very sensitive to changes in temperature.
A warmer Britain could attract more snails or other mini-beasts from warmer countries. The "alien" snail is normally found in warmer countries like Spain and Italy. Snail search results show that the "alien" snail is slowly spreading north to colder parts of Britain.
Could this snail be spreading north because Britain is getting warmer? We will need more evidence to find out.
Snail Search hopes that schools and families will look for snails, year after year, to help work out why this 'alien' snail is settling to live Britain.
