Industry to Impressionism: what two Sisters did for Wales
To mark Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales's centenary celebrations, a major exhibition exploring the remarkable lives of the sisters Gwendoline (1882-1951) and Margaret Davies (1884-1963) goes on show at National Museum Cardiff.
Gwendoline and Margaret Davies were two extraordinary women who amassed one of the most stunning British art collections of the 20th century, and were the greatest benefactors of the Museum's first hundred years.
Royal visit to National Museum Cardiff
National Museum Cardiff will be closed on Tuesday 5 June 2007 due to a function being held by the National Assembly for Wales at which Her Majesty The Queen will be the principal guest. For security reasons, it will not be possible to open the Museum to the public. We apologise for any inconvenience.
National Museum and Library present Eisteddfod crown
Two of Wales’s most prominent national institutions, Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales and the National Library, are sponsoring the Crown at this year’s National Eisteddfod at Mold in August.
During a ceremony to be held at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth on Friday 18 May, the Crown will be formally presented to the Eisteddfod - part of a series of events to mark the centenary of both Amgueddfa Cymru and the National Library and a recognition by them of the contribution of the Eisteddfod to Welsh cultural life.
