New structure for Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales

Following a 90-day consultation period with its staff and trade unions, Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales today (13 May) announced a new structure for the organization.

Philanthropists gift contemporary art work to Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales

Twelve important modern works of art by internationally renowned artists have been gifted to Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales. The works, which were given by well-known art collectors Eric and Jean Cass through the Contemporary Art Society, include two lithographs by the famous Surrealist Joan Miró and a major work by Dutch artist Karel Appel and will be exhibited at National Museum Cardiff from 4 May until 21 July 2013.

The number of people visiting Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales’ sites is continuing to rise, with figures reaching a record high of 1.75 million visits in 2012-13 (9% above target).

Julian Stair - New contemporary ceramics exhibition at National Museum Cardiff

One of the world's most acclaimed ceramicists working today, Julian Stair comes to Cardiff with his first major museum solo exhibition. Julian Stair Quietus: The vessel, death and the human body explores rituals around death and burial and how these can be interpreted as a celebration of life at National Museum Cardiff from 6 April – 7 July 2013.

Children's Literature Festival at National Museum Cardiff

The first ever Cardiff Children’s Literature Festival takes place in March, a fantastic celebration of children’s books and National Museum Cardiff is one of the venues hosting amazing authors and illustrators from Martin Brown’s Horrible Histories to Doctor Who and How to Train your Dragon, there’s something for everyone.
