Vicky Purewal: Botanical Conservation Officer

Expertise

Conservation of botanical and photographic specimens. Basic bookbinding.

Current Projects

Identification of pesticide residues on herbarium sheets. Training students towards the certificate of conservation in natural history specimens, ratified by the University of Cambridge. On-going conservation of the varied collections housed within the botany division of the department of Biodiversity. Maintenance and conservation of the natural history galleries.

Vicky was awarded the title of Student Conservator of the Year by the Jerwood Foundation and the Museums and Galleries Commission. She has been offered a PhD to continue researching this extensive area.

Conservation of zoological specimens, collection management and environmental monitoring.

Current Projects

Welsh Peatland Invertebrate Survey, Gallery Display Specimens and is presently studying for an MPhil on DNA degradation in invertebrate collections.
