Graham Oliver: Head of Department
Expertise
Main area of research lies in the study of Molluscs with specific expertise in bivalves (clams) from the Indo-Pacific and from the deep sea. Molluscan conservation, particularly freshwater mussels. Member of Wales Biodiversity Group, National Biodiversity Network in Wales.
Current Projects
Principal investigator "Shoals of Capricorn". Expedition to Mascarene Ridge (Seychelles, Mauritius). Taxonomy and Functional Morphology of Deep Sea Molluscs from the Oman Margin. Taxonomy of bivalves from the Red Sea.

Has secretarial/administrative responsibility for approximately 30 full-time members of staff and several contract staff. Works directly with the Keeper and also supervises one typist. Responsibility for the maintenance of the departmental budget.

Mainly involved with the typing of reports, scientific papers, accession sheets, publications and correspondence. Provides secretarial and administrative support for the Departmental Secretary.

Chris Meechan: Scientific Illustrator
Expertise
The production of Black and White and Colour illustrations and graphic artwork for inclusion in departmental publications and promotional material. Operates Desk-Top Publishing equipment.

Working on the production of illustrations of Madeiran and East African land snails and the Biomor 2 Report.

Helen Fraser: Curator (Botanical Photography) & Librarian
Responsible for the Biodiversity Library and the botanical photographic slide collection. Shared responsibility for the botanical archives. Collator for the biennial publication of the 'Bibliography of European Palaeobotany & Palynology' and for the departmental magazine 'Symbiont'. Assists in an administrative capacity with publications in the Vegetation History Section.
