I have a peice of artwork that was left to me by a friend several years ago. It was originally baught in an art gallery in Ohio. The artist is A.Devis. Have found Arthur Devis and his half brother. Could you give me any more info. Works looks similar - thanks

Anthony Devis (1729-1817) was a successful landscape painter, often painting the estates of the landed classes. Arthur Devis (1762-1822) was a portrait painter. Their father was Arthur Devis (1712-1787) also a portrait painter. The Harris Art Gallery Preston own works by the family and published a catalogue on Arthur Devis the younger, it would therefore be worth contacting them for more information www.harrismuseum.org.uk
