Gwilym Major (1906 - 96)
Pen-y-bryn, Llangynwyd, Glamorganshire.
Born at Llwyn Gwladus, Llangynwyd, he had always lived in the area and took a great interest in its history. After a year and a half as a farmhand, he went to work in the coal mine at Pentre, Rhondda. He remained there for eleven years befpre becoming caretaker at Llangynwyd Church graveyard. He took a great interest in singing, old stories and tales.
