The Museum is ideally located in Swansea’s Maritime Quarter, only a five minute walk from the city centre.
By bus
The brand new Swansea City Bus Station is now open. For the latest information and nearest stops visit www.firstgroup.com.
By road
From outside Swansea, exit the M4 at junction 42 and follow the brown signs. From inside Swansea, the Museum is located on Oystermouth Road next to the LC, Swansea’s Leisure Complex. For satellite navigation purposes use the post code SA1 3ST.
By rail
Swansea is served by mainline services to London, Paddington. There are also links with Carmarthen and West Wales and station in Mid Wales via the Heart of Wales line.
Parking
A pay and display car park is situated just a short walk away from the Museum on Oystermouth Road. There are dropping off and pick up points close to the entrance during busy times.
Charges apply from Monday to Saturday between 6.30am and 10.30pm. Parking is free on Sundays.

There are designated disabled parking bays for blue badge holders on East Burrows Place, these spaces can be pre-booked by contacting (029) 2057 3600 prior to your visit.

There are six designated coach parking points. Up to 2 hours - £2.50. All day - £5.50

The Museum is ideally located to offer you a great day out. As well a visiting us, why not take a short five minute walk into the city centre to do some shopping or meander along the promenade and soak up the slights of Swansea bay.

1 hour
Swiftly make your way upstairs to the Warehouse Gallery and browse the People, Sea, Organisations, Communities and Achievers displays before making your way across the mezzanine to New Gallery where you’ll discover a virtual shop, music film, a replica of the world’s first steam locomotive, one of the earliest examples of aircraft in the UK, and a coal wagon, which in its heyday was one of the foremost producers of steam coal in South Wales.
1 - 2 hours
Take your time exploring the permanent displays as well as enjoy the ever-changing temporary exhibitions in the Main Hall, Red Wall Gallery and Colonnade. Finish off your visit with a speciality coffee and freshly-made crepe at the café before browsing the gift shop.

As well as spending time discovering the past 300 years of Welsh industry and innovation, you can couple your visit with a trip to Swansea Museum - the oldest Museum in Wales - and only a stone’s throw walk away, discover the interesting facts about the city’s world famous poet at the Dylan Thomas Centre, take a ride on the Masterblaster at the LC, relax at one of the many coffee shops or restaurants within the Maritime Quarter or simply enjoy an ice-cream whilst strolling along the Swansea Bay promenade. Plus, there’s always the city centre just across the road if you’re a keen for a spot of retail therapy!
