Dovetailing with your studies, a work placement can provide an early opportunity to experience your chosen vocation in practice.
Work placements are a great way to gain on-the-job experience, explore career options, demonstrate initiative and responsibility and develop your interpersonal skills.
Amgueddfa Cymru makes a small number of course-related placements every year but unfortunately demand always exceeds supply. Successful applications are based on a clear match being identified between projects or work being available in our departments and the objectives of the applicant's course of study.
With seven national museums across Wales, our departments cover a wealth of knowledge and academic subjects including:
- Archaeology & Numismatics
- Biodiversity and Systematic Biology
Placements are always agreed for a fixed period of time and involve a minimum weekly commitment that is usually during Monday to Friday office hours. The minimum age for applying is 18 and there is no upper age limit. If you are successful, we will arrange an informal interview to check that both sides are happy; references are taken as standard.
