Billy Bragg

Billy Bragg will be making a special appearance in Blaenafon on 5 June to launch his tour of Wales commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 1984/85 Miners' Strike, in an event hosted by Big Pit: The National Coal Museum.

He will be singing and discussing, with a special guest interviewer David Williams, the Miners’ Strike and its impact on his own life and music.

A rebel in every sense, Bragg is best-known for his passionate lyrics and admired for his offbeat love songs.

His life encapsulates so much about his generation.

A unique entertainer, a much-loved maverick and a fearless campaigner, Bragg is an icon of leftfield pop.

In an evening of music and discussion about the man behind the rebel, Billy will be talking about what motivated him to become so active during the 1984/85 Miners Strike and how this period shaped his views and work.

The concert takes place at the Blaenafon Workmen's Hall.
