Pop Peth - pop music exhibition
St Fagans: National History Museum is inviting six Guest Curators to create an exciting, different and new exhibition on pop music.
They will choose objects that are important to them, from their own personal collection as well as the Museum’s collection, or produced by themselves, ranging from record covers, instruments and songs to t-shirts, videos and i-pods.
Pop Peth will be their exhibition, not the Museum’s, and can be viewed in Oriel 1 from 1 August to 10 January 2010. It is part of the Music 09 theme.
It aims to show the unique relationship between person, music, place and time, and reflect the influence that popular culture has on each and every one of us.
Guest curators:
Gari Melville – collector and specialist on pop music in Wales
Lowri Johnston and Leusa Fflur – editors of the fanzine ‘Dim Ffwdanu’
Ashli Todd – who helps run the family business, Spillers Records
John Griffiths and Kevs Ford – musicians with dub reggae band Llwybr Llaethog
