Big Pit’s Annual Lecture 2010

This event has finished. 27 Mar 2010, 2.30pm

Our lecture this year marks 100 years since the Cambrian Combined dispute which resulted in the Tonypandy Riots, and focuses on this significant episode in Welsh history.

Churchill intervened and involved the military in the dispute, a move which has aroused controversy ever since.

David Maddox OBE is accepted as the authority on the Tonypandy Riots, and he will be the special guest for this event

David taught for many years in the Rhondda, and was latterly Deputy Chief Adviser with the Education & School Improvement Service (ESIS).  He now advises the BBC on its schools’ history programmes and has recently worked with the Royal Commission for Ancient and Historic Monuments of Wales.

Tickets, which are free of charge, will be available to collect from Reception at Big Pit on the day.
