Displaying the work of weavers from Wales and England who have moved their craft practice into the commercial arena by working with woollen mills.

This exhibition will allow visitors to track the development of a design from the hand loom through to the finished product – the woven textile for both fashion and interiors.

The often unseen design process exploring colours, yarn choices and finishing processes will highlight the work that goes into creating woven fabric.

Warp & Weft 2 will run from 4 September 2010 until 8 January 2011 at the National Wool Museum, side by side with the Warp & Weft exhibition at Oriel Myrddin, Carmarthen (11 September until 30 October 2010).

As well as the designers, this exhibition recognises and honours the usually anonymous Welsh weaving mills and their expertise - mills that increasingly rely on this kind of commission work.

Warp and Weft, above all, is a celebration of contemporary woven textiles through from craft to industry.

The exhibition means the Museum can tell an even fuller story about the woollen industry by giving a clearer picture of how it stands today, and helps in our quest to set out the process from the fleece to fabric.
