Whom the Bell Tolls is regarded as one of Hemmingway's best works. Set in the Spanish civil war and inspired by Hemmingway's own experiences, it tells the story of Robert Jordan, a young American who has gone to fight alongside Spanish soldiers, and the choices he has to make amidst the brutality of civil war.
After our discussion, perhaps you'll be ready for a bit of trench building with the La Columna re-enactors who will be in St Fagans throughout the weekend.
