Well, terrible! Pity the man from Cardiganshire!

Yes, they're very cruel to him. They tell these, as they tell stories about Scotland, in Aberdeen, today. There's a host of them. And there are many like it - about putting sugar in tea, and such things.

Yes, what is that story, then?

Oh, what's the difference between, say, a Cardiganshire man and a man from say, Carmarthenshire, and a man from Glamorganshire, would you say? You'd give [him] tea, and then if there wasn't enough sugar in your tea: 'Help yourself from that basin there,' says the man from Glamorganshire. And the man from Carmarthenshire says: 'Well, if there isn't enough in your tea, put another little spoonful in.' And the person from Cardiganshire:

'Make sure you've stirred it properly!'
