Efforts and Ideals - workshop

Comparing the Efforts and Ideals prints with Frank Brangwyn’s painting, A Heavy Gun in Action.

Students will focus on the ‘Making Guns’ and ‘Making Soldiers’ themes within the exhibition, compare these with the representation of guns and soldiers in the painting A Heavy Gun in Action and then present their findings to the class.

Learning resources to accompany this exhibition are available online.

Artes Mundi 6 - Gallery workshops

National Museum Cardiff

Artes Mundi, a major international contemporary art exhibition and the UK’s biggest art prize, returns, bringing some of the world’s most pioneering artists to National Museum Cardiff, Chapter and Ffotogallery. This must-see exhibition will feature ground-breaking work including film installations, sculpture, painting and performance. The overarching theme is the human condition and, within this, the artists explore many themes which have relevance to our everyday lives.

These workshops will encourage students to develop their own personal response to the exhibition through a range of activities. Each workshop can be adapted for Foundation Phase, KS2, KS3, KS4, A/AS level, as well as the Welsh Baccalaureate and pupils with special educational needs.

Teachers’ Learning Resource 'I Spy Nature'
