Festive fun activities for everyone this Christmas

At last the trees are shedding their colourful leaves and the temperatures are dropping... Winter is coming and with it comes Christmas time!

Why not escape the hustle and bustle of the busy streets this year and enjoy spending the winter break with family? Let’s take hats and mittens off and start the holidays indulging yourself with a warm drink and festive confectionery at the Museum Café before enjoying together one of the activities offered by the National Museums in Cardiff, Caerleon and St Fagans.

The Museums will be opened all through the Christmas holidays but will be closed on 24, 25, 26 December and January, 1st.

Museum explores new perspectives on archaeology in Wales

On Saturday 15 November, from 10:30 am, leading experts in archaeology across Wales and England will be attending the annual conference Archaeopasts 2014 at National Museum Cardiff to present new perspectives on archaeology in Wales. Throughout the day, results of recent archaeological research and hidden histories within archaeological collections will be revealed to the public.

Autumn fun at the National Roman Legion Museum

Ah, autumn, the smell of bonfires, fireworks and fish sauce… wait a minute, fish sauce?! Yes, visitors to the National Roman Legion Museum this half term (27-31 October) will be able to see the rotten, bloody and mouldy side of Roman life in their ‘Gore Blimey!’ workshops (11am – 4pm with last entry at 3.30pm and cost £2 per child).
