The £33.5 million attraction was one of 22 buildings from across the UK to win a Civic Trust Award. The award, which recognises good architectural design and public use of the building, received 316 entries.
The National Waterfront Museum launches a new temporary exhibition on April 6th 2006, which will look at the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in South Wales. Using modern and archive images the display will show how Brunel’s work on railways, bridges, docks and ships in this area helped to revolutionise transport and bring Wales to the forefront of the international industrial revolution.
The National Wool Museum is the latest of the Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales family to encourage visitors to support the National Waterfront Museum’s bid in this year’s Gulbenkian Prize. The museum, located in the village of Dre-fach Felindre, is one of three museums which tell the story of specific industries, with the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, telling the general story of industry in Wales since the Industrial Revolution.
