The History of Archaeological Collecting by Museums in Wales

Staff: Elizabeth A Walker

This recently-completed study of the history of collecting by some museums across south Wales during the twentieth century (awarded an MPhil by University of Wales, Lampeter) has shed light on the trends and patterns in collecting archaeological finds. It has looked at both active and passive collecting by museums and examined reasons behind changes in the ways different museums have collected. A series of papers are now being prepared for publication from this work.
