Fifty Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Works at the National Museum of Wales
Fifty of the finest Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works in the Welsh national collection. Including iconic paintings by Monet, Renoir, Cezanne and Van Gogh.
The core of the collection was formed in the early 20th century by Gwendoline and Margaret Davies of Gregynog, the sisters who pioneered British interest in Impressionism. Their bequests transformed the national collection, and Dr Ann Sumner examines their collecting in the light of Impressionism's international reception.
Lavishly illustrated with paintings, drawings and sculpture by 21 different artists, this is a lively yet informative account of a world-class art collection.
