Investigating pollen can help us reconstruct vegetation of the past.

Imagine how Snowdon would have looked when the slopes were covered in ice and glaciers or, thousands of years later, in dense, deciduous woodland?

This tour will introduce the technique of pollen analysis and the use of botanical evidence, including pollen and plant macrofossils, to reconstruct past vegetation and environments specifically in Snowdonia.

You can also learn about the current research programme monitoring pollen deposition in Snowdonia, conducted by the Vegetation History Section of the Museum.
