Waterfront Book Club – The Rebecca Rioter
Celebrating LGBT month, this month’s Waterfront Book Club read is The Rebecca Rioter by Swansea novelist and important lesbian figure - Amy Dillwyn.
First published in 1880, The Rebecca Rioter pulls you into the life of a young working-class man, struggling to come to terms with the injustice and social inequities of the world he lives in.
Based on a recorded account of a true attack on a turnpike during the notorious Rebecca Riots in South Wales, this novel questions the relevance of social and gender issues, giving readers plenty of issues to stimulate discussion.
The session will start with an introduction about the author from our chair Margaret Z Jones, who will then lead us into a discussion allowing the group to share opinions and talking points.
A great way to spend an enjoyable Sunday afternoon… with a free cuppa included!
