Archaeology Lunchtime Talk - Sharper focus, more detail: the new chronology and the Early Middle Ages

Professor John Hines, Cardiff University Last year, a major research project funded by English Heritage was completed with the publication of a weighty report. The project had used a suite of chronological techniques, both traditional and very new, to produce a new chronological framework for Anglo-Saxon grave and grave goods of the 6th and 7th centuries AD - the period in which the Anglo-Saxons were converted to Christianity, and in which the earliest English kingdoms emerge into the light of history.
